KISMAYO (Sh.M.Network)–Al-shabab fighters displayed Saturday the dead bodies of AMISOM and Somali troops in Somalia’s southern rebel-held port city port of Kismayo, reports said.
Witnesses said Al shabab militants have on Saturday publicly displayed 2 alleged Kenyans and two other Somali national soldiers in the town following a fierce battle near Afmadow on Friday that left dozens of people, mostly combatants dead.
Reports said Hundreds of local residents convened at a station, where Al-Shabab displayed the gruesome blood-stained corpses of the Kenyan and Somali soldiers in Kismayo, 500 Km south of Mogadishu.
Photographs showed long lines of at least 4 bodies dressed in military uniform laid out in the sand, surrounded by a large crowd with their faces covered.
African Union Mission for Somalia (AMISOM) troops and government forces have been pushing into remaining Al-Shabab areas in south and centralSomalia, after the bulk of the fighters abandoned their fixed positions in Mogadishu last August.
