Somali TV reporter shot dead in Las’anod town

LAS’ANOD (Sh.M.Network)—Unidentified assailants in Las’anod town, northern Somalia have shot to death on Tuesday night a TV journalist, bringing the toll to 16 deaths since the start of 2012.

Ahmed Farah Ilyas better known as (Ahmed Sakin), a reporter for privately owned Universal TV, a Somali satellite Television station based in London was killed by unknown masked med armed with pistols as he was heading his house in the centre of Las’anod town after workplace, according to Faisal Jama’a, a colleague.

“Ahmed Farah was assassinated in Las’anod in front of his home on Tuesday night at around 9pm local time and the killers escaped from the scene uncaught before the breakaway Somaliland forces arrived in the area,” he added.

It is yet unclear the reason behind the killing of the journalist.

Somaliland authorities have so far to release comments on the murder.
