Somali speaker urges the new cabinet to support ban on charcoal export

MOGADISHU (Sh.M.Network)—Mohamed Osman Jawari, Somali speaker has on Friday urged the newly appointed cabinet ministers to support the ban on charcoal shipments from Kismayo port city.

Somalia in its efforts to stamp out or cancel the trade of charcoal after In February this year, the Security Council banned the trade to stop both the flow of money to al-Shabab and slow the environmental damage.

In an attempt to resolve the crisis, president Hassan Sheikh appointed a nine-member taskforce to investigate the charcoal stockpile and report with recommendations within seven days.
