MOGADISHU (Sh. M. Network) —Somalia’s ongoing president Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has held on Tuesday talks with international community partners, to speed up the ending of the transitional period.
A door closed meeting held in Mogadishu airport, which is under the protection of the African Union, the president and his PM Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, have met with members of the international community, including Djibouti, Ethiopia, EU, Italy, Norway, Turkey, UK, US and discussed the country’s political transformation.
On Monday, Somalia has sworn in its new parliament, to replace the transitional parliament, a historic move towards a permanent constitutional government with parliament for the first time in twenty years in Somalia.
More than 24 candidates, including the incumbent president and speaker are vying for Somalia’s first post-transition president in the long-waited upcoming presidential elections by the end of August.
