Somali Police arrest dozens in Baidoa crackdown

BAIDOA (Sh.M.Network)—Somali Police in the strategic Baidoa city on Friday morning, arresting untold number of people on suspicion of being militants after conducting a security operation following a roadside blast, reports said.

Abdifatah Ibrahim Gesey, the governor for Bay region, told Shabelle Media Network by phone that the ongoing crackdown is aimed at stamping out militants hiding in some parts of the city.

“The government forces have been storming houses and business centres in the city on Friday, and arrested unconfirmed figures during the crackdown and taken to the central detention,” a local resident said.

Bay governor Abdifatah Ibrahim Gesey, appealed to the local population to help them secure the city by providing timely information to avert militant attacks in the city.
