Muqdisho. Dec 11-2012 (Shabelle )— Somali parliament have had a session where they quizzed two key ministers of the Somali federal government.
Somali foreign minister Fowsiyo Yusuf Haji who came first in front of the parliament has answered questions about an issue over the building of the Somali embassy inRomeItalywhich was recently rented out to an Italian company.
Haji told members of the parliament that embassy of the Somali parliament was rented under the time of the previous transitional government led by Sheikh Sharif. She however said that recently there was a commission formed to investigate that case and that she is the head of that commission.
The other minister, who came in front of the parliament to answer questions today, was the minister of defence, Mr. Abdihakim Haji Mohamud Fiqi and he question over the recent detention inMogadishuof a reporter working for the BBC Somali service which the army arrested him over a report he sent to the BBC.
The defence minister, Mr. Fiqi told that the detention of the journalist by the Somali army came after he sent biased report which turned out to be untrue later but he said the reporter was released finally.
The Somali parliament, which is an integral part of the governance inSomalia, seems now to be doing its duty and it is a good sign that Somaliahas got a body that can ask questions the executive authorities of the nation.
