Mogadishu: (Sh. M. Network)  On behalf of the Somali Civil Society Coalition (SCSC) we would like to acknowledge the outcome of the Somali presidential election in which the Somali Federal Parliament members elected Prof. Hassan Shiekh Mohamoud as the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The integrity and quality of the presidential election process was both representative and transparent. We trust the new president’s leadership capacity and knowledge will put into action of achieving: – stabilization, reconciliation, integration, and building sustainable and accountable institutions of governance capable of providing services to its people.

We also praise the party played by President Shiekh Sharif and his government for their significant contribution to the peace and reconciliation process in the country to end the transition system. President Sharif’s extraordinary, charming and courageous speech by accepting the election process outcome and at the same time congratulating to the new president success was an exceptionally outstanding bravery that will always be remembered by the Somalis and international community and could become a lesson learned for both Somali politicians and the public.

Somali Civil Society Coalition would like to tribute the role of Somali Traditional Leaders of the process of ending the transition by selecting competent Parliamentarians who are more representative and inclusive. The Technical Selection Committee’ role deserves compliment for their courageous screening the selected MP against the criterion set in the Road Map document.

We look forward to the Somali people to make their best effort to fully collaborate and support the new government led by Prof. Hassan. At the same time we advise the new president to set up an inclusive and well represented government that promotes to achieve sustainable and accountable institutions of governance capable of delivering services to its people and promote to uphold the value and dignity of the Somali people and their government.
