NAIROBI (Sh.M.Network)—Mohamed Ali Americo, Somali ambassador in Kenya says police stations will be opened in the Eastleigh neighbourhood of Kenya’s capital, where Pitched battles between Kenyans and Somalis have raged on for the past two days.
“I asked the Kenyan government officials to open police stations in the Somali dominated Eastleigh neighbourhood, to stop the repeated army attacks against ethnic Somalis,” the ambassador said.
Somali ambassador called upon Somalis Eastleigh, Nairobi to work with the poice to tighten the security and protect their life and properties.
Somalis make up the majority of Eastleigh’s inhabitants and they have large business. The village was the scene of a deadly attack, youths of Kenyans on Monday battled Somali communities, following an attack on a bus that left 9 people killed and 30 others injured.
Business owners in Eastleigh, say they feared that the protesting youths might attack them and loot their shops.
