MOGADISHU (Sh.M.Network)-As on Monday August 20, 2012 marks the end of the UN-backed Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government (TFG), President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has urged TSC independent and impartiality of Somali’s traditional elders for MPs selection process.

Somali “elders” drew up a list of 202 parliamentarians, which was then handed over to the TSC. The TSC is then supposed to “evaluate and approve all nominees,” according to the Addis Ababa Principles, and Nairobi Principles, a set of agreements between the TFG, regional representatives, and the UN.

TFG president Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed said he is concerned about the reported interference, intimidation and manipulation aiming to undermine the applying the selection criteria for Members of the new Parliament of Somalia.

On the other hand, Somali president Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed talked more about the security situation of the country, saying the national army and the AMISOM forces have achieved to drive Al shabab from many key towns in south and central Somalia since August 2011.
