MOGADISHU (Sh.M.Network) 29 September, 2012 SAACID and UN-HABITAT hereby jointly announce a call for expressions of interest in tendering for construction works in three districts of Mogadishu City, Somalia.
Title of the expression of interest:
- Construction of a small open market at Badbaado IDP Camp in Dharkeynley District
- Rehabilitation of Bandarwanaag Market in Heliwaa District
These construction projects should be seen as 2 distinct lots, which may either be awarded to 2 x 1, or 1 contractor, depending on the outcome of the tender. Spreading the contracts over different contractors is the preferred arrangement.
The projects are funded by the Italian Cooperation, and implemented within the framework of the UN Joint Programme on Local Governance and Decentralized Service Delivery.
Description of requirements
Interested contracts will be subject to a technical evaluation procedure. For this purpose, contractors are obliged to submit the following documents:
a) Registration certificates with the Ministry General Services, and Benadir Regional Administration
b) Company’s background, including experience in provision of relevant construction and services with detailed contact information, details on previous construction projects (including project value, client and location); list of construction equipment (major items of equipment should be owed by company); letters of reference; CVs of technical, supervisory and management staff, etc.
c) Minimum five (5) successfully executed project of comparable nature in the last three years.
d) Any other documentation that will support a proven track record of quality construction
e) Evidence of registered premises and/or construction yard in Mogadishu City (No shared business premises will be accepted)
Note: Only genuine construction companies are eligible to participate in the tender process

The interested parties shall submit a letter of Expression of Interest and the required documents highlighted above in English language. The envelopes should be sealed; and distinctly labelled as: “EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR CONSTRUCTION WORKS IN THE DISTRICTS OF DHARKEYNLEYand HELIWAA ”; and should be delivered in-person to the following address:

Bid submission period:
Document submission duration is one week; beginning from the 29 September 2012 and ending on 6 October 2012; Tender documents will be issued to technically qualified companies only. Financial bids shall be submitted by 18 October 2012, 12:00 hours.
