SHALANBOD (Sh.M.Network) —A roadside bomb blast on Sunday tore through a military vehicle carrying Somali forces in the recently captured city of Shalanbod, located 110 Km south of Mogadishu, reports said.
Eyewitnesses said unconfirmed soldiers were killed and several others have been injured in the attack that was caused improvised explosive devices (IEDs) placed on the ground underneath.
In the aftermath of the explosion, Somali government forces carried out a sweep up operation to find out the perpetrators. No arrests reported.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Somali army officials said the bomb went off on Sunday inside the town and it didn’t cause any casualty or damaged. A claim that could not independently verified.
The town of Shalanbod is a newly taken area that strategically located along the main corridor linking Mogadishu to the south and south-western regions of Somalia. It is under the control of African Union (AU) and Somali government forces.
