Official: Somali forces boost Jowhar assault plans

MOGADISHU (Sh. M. Network) —The spokesman for Midlle Shabelle region Da’ud Hajji, said on Wednesday that Somali, AU forces are stepping up military plans to attack Jowhar town, controlled by Al shabab militants.

He said Somali forces allied with African Union troops are massing near the town for the final onslaught to seize control from Al-Shabaab militants in their southern Somalia stronghold.

“I call upon the local residents in Jowhar to work closely with the coalition forces, to dive the militants out of the entire region,” he added.

The town, a rebel-held town that lies 90 km (50 miles) along a major road north of the national capital of Mogadishu.
