Killings in Somalia’s Baidoa and Beledweyne towns

BALADWEYNE (Sh.M.Network)—Assailants in Somalia have shot and killed a prominent Elder in the central town of Beledweyne, some 206 miles (332 km) north of Mogadishu, Witnesses said on Monday.

Barre Ganey, a peace-maker was shot in the head in several times by two men armed with pistols in the heart of the town on Monday afternoon as he was heading to his home, Sources said.

The exact motive and the identity of the killers are yet to be established by Somali government officials in the area.

Elsewhere, unknown armed groups killed Somali soldier in the town of Baidoa located 256 kilometres (159 miles) northwest of the capital Mogadishu.

Somali Security forces have made operations over the both killings, but no arrests have reported so far.
