GARISSA (Sh.M.Network)—Kenyan police detained dozens Suspected terrorists alleged killing of two police officers in northern Kenyan town of Garissa in the latest attacks to hit the restive region on Friday.
Sources say Kenyan police carried out crackdown in Garissa on Saturday as to find out those who have killed the officers and need to investigate attacks on their forces.
Numerous witnesses have told the independent Shabelle Media Network based in Mogadishu that the police beat and mistreated villagers following attacks by suspected al-Shabaab supporters on Kenyan security officers on Friday.
Kenyan security forces have repeatedly accused residents in North Eastern province of either harboring members of al-Shabaab or participating in the attacks, and have repeatedly carried out abusive operations against local residents.
In October, 2011, Kenya sent troops into neighboring Somalia to fight against Al shabab, whom Nairobi blames for string of cross-border attacks and kidnappings against foreign aid workers and officials in its soil.
