NAIROBI(Sh.M.Network)—Kenya Defense Forces forces together with TFG soldiers yesterday captured Bibi town which is about 100km from the strategic port town ofKismayu. During the operation three Al Shabaab militants were killed.
“During the 12:45pm operation, the forces faced little resistance from the Al Shabaab who were easily repulsed. Assorted weapons and ammunition were recovered during the engagement,” said KDF Operations Information Officer Colonel Cyrus Oguna.
He said three TFG soldiers sustained minor injuries during the engagement and have been accorded the necessary medical attention. No one from KDF was injured during the operation, added Oguna. KDF is operating under AMISOM in the military operation aimed at flashing out Al-Shabaab militants from Somalia.
Oguna said Bibi has been an important town to the Al Shabaab since it is at a road junction used by the Al Shabaab militia to control movement to and from Beles Quoqaani through Aglibah and to and from Afmadow. Kismayu is the only remaining stronghold of the militants.
