President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, told reporters that the meeting was focused on the revival of the bilateral relationship between both nations, adding the gathering is a new beginning for Somali-Italy bond.

For his part, Italian Minister Giulio Terzi had declared Roma’s commitment to support the security of Somalia and the fight against piracy.

Sources at the presidential palace said, representatives from the international donors held meeting with Gov’t officials on Somalia.

Terzi’s visit was a sign of improved security since Somali African Union troops have been making inroads against Islamic militants, forcing them out of the capital and other urban areas.
