KAMPALA (Sh.M.Network)-The Intergovernmental Authority on Development, IGAD member states are set to hold a meeting in Kampala to discuss regional strategies on conflict early warning and response mechanism.
According to the Permanent Secretary ministry of foreign affairs, Ambassador James Mugume, the meeting will lay more emphasis on the monitoring and tracking cross border pastoral conflict in the Karamoja cluster and mainly on the side of Uganda in the nine districts of Amudat, Bukwo, Kaabong, Kapchorwa, Kotido, Kween, Moroto, Nakapiripit, and Napak.
He adds that the meeting will also address other security threats in the region especially terrorism and inert state conflict.
The meeting is to be attended by eight countries which include Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Eritrea.
It will run from 2nd to 4th September and will be opened by the minister for Karamoja Affairs Janet Museveni.
