MOGADISHU (Sh.M.Network)—Ethiopian forces in Somalia reportedly attacked on several military bases belonging to Al shabab militants in Bay region of southern Somalia, as they seek to open up the road from the Baidoa to the capital.
The attack took place late on Saturday and continued till last night at Gofgadud area, where Ethiopian forces targeted Al shabab, causing bitter clashes between both sides, according to the local residents.
It was immediately unclear to get further details on the casualty following the combat as both officials from Al shabab and Ethiopian forces unavailable to reach on the phone for comments.
The latest reports indicated that the situation in the conflict zone is calm and the local residents resumed their daily activities and things returned up and running.
Baidoa, a strategic town seized from the Shebab by Ethiopian troops in February this year.
Baidoa, located 250 kilometers (155 miles) northwest of Mogadishu, was the seat of Somalia’s transitional parliament until the extremist Shebab captured it three years ago.
