Government troops carry out operations after Explosion

BAIDOA (Sh.M.Network)—Somali security forces have carried out on Saturday morning purge operation in the town of Baidoa, the procincial capital of Bay, after roadside blast has killed more people on Friday, reports said.

The forces have launched a dawn crackdown at several villages in the city, where the officials suspected to be hideouts of Al shabab affiliates. Dozens of suspects were arrested during the sweep.

“These operations began at dawn this morning and we arrested more people who are mainly youth that are still in police custody and their investigation is still pending,” said a police officer who asked not to be named.

The town, 250 Km north-west of Mogadishu was highly contested by Al Shabaab and allied forces before the Al Shabaab exited Feb 22, 2012 this year.
