PARIS (Sh.M.Network)—France condemns the murder of journalist Mohamed Mohamud Turyare, a Somali journalist working for Shabelle radio.
He was seriously injured in a shooting attack on October 21 and has died as a result of his injuries. We extend our condolences to his loved ones.
This crime brings the number of journalists killed while carrying out their work in Somalia since the beginning of the year to 17.
We are more concerned than ever about the increase in the number of attacks against journalists and media workers in Somalia.
France calls on the Somali authorities to immediately strengthen the measures necessary to protect those who defend the right to information.
