EU delegation lands in Somali capital

MOGADISHU (Sh.M.Network)—A European delegation led by the EU’s special envoy to Somalia, Michele Cervone d’Urso arrived in Mogadishu on Tuesday amid the security is improving.

Somali government officials received the EU delegation at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde international airport and then escort to the country’s presidential palace, where he held talks with Somali PM Abdi Farah Shirdon and some ministers in the new cabinet.

“I’m very much delighted today to receive the EU special envoy for Somalia in Mogadishu,” Mr. Shirdon said during a joint press conference after the meeting, adding the Somalia and AU agreed to boost up their bilateral relationship.

For his part, Michele Cervone d’Urso, the envoy said that European Union has offered Somali government 158 million euros or $200 million to improve education, the legal system, reconstruction and security.
