Shabelle Mogadishu. 07/03/08. The transitional government of Somalia has many foes but surprisingly its so called army forces are its prime enemy turning the public against the government.
Ever since, the government came to Mogadishu and installed its base in the capital under the barrels of Ethiopian guns, the so called soldiers of the government have committed unspeakable crimes such as killing innocent civilians as they are happy trigger soldiers, looting public properties as they are wild Khat chewers and they committed many more offences.
Glancing how the soldiers deal, you can simply understand that they have a power to execute their own unpleasant agendas and that means, that every soldiers is a commander and lieutenant by himself.
Let us see recent offences committed by the so called soldiers of the transitional government, on the 2nd of March 2008, they raided the Bakaraha Market and ransacked everything their hands could grab including studio equipments of the major Radio stations in the city in a bid to silence these radios as they were wildly looting the bit of what remains in the market.
During that ransack of Bakaraha Market where 60% of the declining population of Mogadishu earn their livelihood, the soldiers killed civilians at sight, according to local media and residents around the Market.
Showing the confidence of his public service, Premier Nur Adde has admitted that the forces of the government ransacked Somalia’s main market and he condemned it even though his condemnation can’t make a change because the forces are not under his control and some of these lunatic soldiers may not know even the importance of his post as a prime minister and come under the command of sick people who still trail the path of tribalism which led the destruction of Somalia’s nationhood many years ago.
More surprisingly, only four days have elapsed, as these chaotic forces came back again today 7th March 8, 2008 and surrounded the market including the building of Shabelle Media Network, a major independent media house in Somalia.
They detained a journalist working for the media house who was unfortunately standing the gate of the radio station when these soldiers were coming around the radio station; no one knows where they took this journalist whose is Liban Omar.
In any nation in the world, a national army is primarily set up to defend the sovereignty of the nation and the dignity of the people and defending the people include, keeping their safety but in Somalia things are now going in wrong direction.
The army harasses the civilians and loots their property, creating a public hatred and discontent for the government and that is the reason why Somalia’s transitional is totally unpopular in the country so public confidence can only be restored if the government tries hard to reign its forces and discipline them.
