MOGADISHU (Sh.M.Network)— Tens of thousands of people have on Friday gathered to pray and celebrate the Muslim festival of Eid-ul-Adha across the major towns, those under Al shabab control and government in Somalia.
In Mogadishu, the capital, thousands of residents led by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, his PM and the speaker with some government officials and renowned clerics gathered at the town’s Isbahaysiga Mosque, to commemorate the event.
People, friends and families exchanged Eid greetings and gifts at villages and public gatherings in Mogadishu, to share the happiness of the festival.
Eid Al-adha is a three-day holiday that focuses on the culmination of the pilgrimage to Mecca. It is celebrated not only by Muslims who complete the pilgrimage but by all Muslims around the world.
It is also one of the two most important occasions for Muslims; the other is Eid al-Fitr, which is celebrated once a year after holy month of Ramadan.
