Bosaso 25 Dec. 12 (Shabelle) — Reports from the coastal town of Bandar Beylain northeast Somalia say that, a boat carrying commercial commodities, has capsized in that area.
The boat is reported to have been chartered by Somali businessmen based in Mogadishu and was on its way to the sea port of capital city.
Mohamed Farah, the minister for fisheries and marine resources in Puntalnd who spoke to the journalists in Boasaso, said that authorities in Puntland received information that the boat capsized and it is believed to have been caught in the rough sea as rains with strong winds are sweeping the coastal areas in that area including Bandar Beyla town.
Mr.Farah confirmed that strong winds are currently battering many coastal communities such as Bargaal ,Ras Aser iyo Ayl, all in Puntland.
The minister cautioned that the strong winds would leave a trail of destruction behind and he stressed that there are fears the strong winds might continue tonight hitting communities along side the Somali coast in general and Puntland in particular.
