MOGADISHU(Sh. M. Network)-The Commander in Chief of the Somali Armed Forces vowed that Somali and AMISOM troops are committed to liberate soon all territories still remained under the control of the Al Qaeda-affiliated Al shabab.
Giving an interview with Shabelle Media, General Abdikarin Yusuf, said his forces are expanding their takeover against Al shabab controlled area in Lower Shabelle and middle regions, a day after Somali troops with the support of the African Union Mission (AMISOM) forces seized Merca, a port city 100 Kilometres west of Mogadishu, from Al Shabaab.
“Allah willing, we shall set free soon all Al shabab held towns in south and centralSomalia. I urge the population to cooperate with the national army fighting with the militants,” he added.
He stressed that Somali and AU forces are preparing to move to the seaside Kismayo town, the provincial capital of Lower Jubba region, some 500 kilometres south ofMogadishu.

Al shabab commanders are yet to comment onSomalia’s military gains against their strongholds in southern country.
