Big rally in Gedo province in support of Somali new PM

BALAD-HAWO (Sh.M.Network) — Hundreds of people have taken taken to the streets in towns of Gedo region on Saturday in support of the newly appointed Somali Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon, reports said.

The demonstrations took place in the cities of El waq, Beled-Hawo and Garbaharey, the capital of Gedo region, with hundreds of men and women carrying banners written slogans supporting the appointment of Somali new PM.

Mohamed Abdi Kalil, the governor of Gedo, said the people of his region is very satisfied and happy with country’s new PM and called upon him to set up an effective competence cabinet ministers as soon as possible.

Somalia has not had a fully functioning government in more than 20 years, but African militaries from Uganda, Burundi, Ethiopia and Kenya are pressuring al-Shabab from three fronts.
