KISMAYO (Sh.M.Network) —The African Union troops have recovered bodies of four Kenyan and Somali soldiers who went Missing in Action (MIA) in the lead-up to the capture of Kismayo.
The bodies had been buried close to the cemetery along the coast line in a mass grave.
According to Department of Defence spokesman Major Emmanuel Chirchir, the four soldiers went missing after the Miidiow attack as AMISOM troops moved eastwards to Kismayo.
Al-Shabaab militants had dragged the four bodies across Kismayo town.
In his twitter handle, Major Chirchir said AMISOM troops were led to where the four soldiers were buried by Kismayo locals.
“Kismayo resident gesture appreciated. Co-operation and positive engagement is increasing,” he tweeted.
