KISMAYO (Sh.M.Network) —Somalia’s National Army (SNA) together with the African Union forces, primarily the Kenyan army on Sunday marched closer towards to Jilib district in Middle jubba region controlled by Al shabab militants, reports said.
Military officials say the allied forces on Sunday flocked to the main rebel-held Jilib, securing several villages located on the corridor from Kismayo to Mogadishu and it is the most populous town in the Middle Juba Region.
Some reports said the Resident in Jilib began to flee their houses in a bid to void possible casualties.
Somali and Kenyan military have retaken control of the key southern port city of Kismayo, 500 Kms south of Mogadishu this month following two months of military offensives against Al shabab fighters.
Al shabab officials described their withdrawal of Kismayo as ‘a tactical retreat’, vowing to strike back the coalition forces controlling the city.
