Mogadishu. (Shabele Media) Somali government has detained again within this week, the chairman of Shabelle Media Network, Mr Abdimalik Yusuf Mohamud, alleging that Shabelle has previously aired that the interior minister took items from the government- stormed compound of the network.
The detention of Mr. Abdimalik came as the government has released on bail the two government empolyed staff accussed of raping another female journlist, after they have brought this morning to criminal investigation department for questioning but to everyone’s surprise, the government has refused to release on bail the rape victim, the journalist who reported he case and the chairman of Shabelle Media Network, showing once again that how the justice in Somalia can’t work independently.
Meanwhile, the rape victim who was questioned this morning infront of human rights activists has given further details about why she reported the case of her rape so lately.
Ms Fadum Abdulakdir told that Abdiaziz Afrika, one of the state radio employee, who she accused of raping her, threatened to kill her dad and her brother if she ever opened her mouth about te rape. She also told that she contacted Mr. AbdiRahim Isa Adow, the director of Radio Muqdishu and Abdishkur Mire Adan, the deputy minister of information when she was raped.
The director and the deputy minister hadid not spoken about this yet officially.
Shabelle once again calls on the Somali government to stop haunting its staff and demands the immediate release of Mr. Abdimaalik Yusuf Mohamud and journlist Mohamed Bashir as they have nothing to do with the ongoing case.
